Its 3:30am and i had to actually force myself to get up and write this post. Its not about not having a topic to write about or because i am sleepy, its due to the lack of motivation. I simply lack motivation to do just about anything not just to blog. My motivation is so low, i practically have to drag myself to do things i have to do. What motivates you daily to do the things you do? There should always be that driving force, something motivating us to push forward at every point in time. Be it to finish up a design or some project, motivation is key to making your desire become reality. Motivation is what guides you to achieve your goals. So what motivates you? Some people say deadlines do motivate them, when you set a deadline, then you can accomplish all your goals. I wish i am that disciplined. Thats not enough motivation for me, a deadline? Like i’m gonna flog myself if i don’t do that thing? I think one has to be extremely disciplined to be motivated by deadlines you set for yourself. Discipline is a major key to being successful in life. To some other person, its just a mere feeling of accomplishment after achieving a goal that motivates them. I think for me, there has to be a material reward or some personal gain to keep me motivated.

Its more difficult to stay motivated when you do not see a return on Investment. When you put in more effort than the end result you are getting, you certainly loose motivation. At least this is true for me. Sometimes it could be that the goal seems too far out of reach, you are highly motivated at the beginning but then as you begin you realize how challenging and difficult it really is and then your motivation goes down the drain. There are so many other reasons one could feel less motivated.

I have been about writing down goals and setting targets, action points to help achieve your goals, this does help to stay motivated but it doesn’t end at just writing these down. What motivates one to push forward towards those desired goals?

So you have all these goals written down but have lost motivation due to any reasons whatsoever, you need to be able to stay motivated at all times. To stay motivated, you need to be able to determine your motivating force first and foremost. You must have a reason to succeed; one that touches the deepest levels of your being. Explore the big picture. Why is it so important to you? What will you lose if you don’t keep going? If you don’t determine your motivating force, you are certainly heading towards failure.

Remind yourself of your goal every now and then. Keeping track of your goals and checking your progress can help keep you motivated day in and day out. Track your progress weekly, this always is a motivating force especially when there is progress, you always want to push harder for more success stories.

Tap into the energy of others. Gosh there are so many people doing those things you want to do that seems so difficult. There are so many people who have achieved that which you want to achieve. Find out how, what they did to achieve that. Read and listen to positive information. Find at least one book on a positive topic that will give you a boost. You need constant reminders telling you that you are capable of achievement. Watch motivational stories or speeches. There are a thousand on you tube. This will keep your motivation elevated.

You need to stay positive at all times. Stay away from negativity. Focus on positivity. Negativity ranges from negative people to negative influences. Distance yourself from people that do not care about your dreams. Negative people and conversations will have you focused on all the wrong things and may take your focus off of your goals. Seek out positive people and don’t engage in negative conversations. Instead, choose to remain neutral or just don’t participate at all.

Learn from your mistakes instead of repeating them. There will always be mistakes. Also learn from the mistakes of others. Have a plan B. Find inspiration in these words from Thomas Edison: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Be prepared to change course in light of the unexpected.

Reward yourself – you are worth it. Celebrate accomplishment whether big or small. It could be just a movie night, going out for ice cream, to the spa or even a vacation to the Bahamas. Whatever rewards will keep you going are the ones you should be giving yourself. This is very simple but one of the most powerful ways to stay motivated. You could simply attach a reward to a goal, and once that goal is achieved you give yourself that much desired reward.

If any of these won’t get you motivated enough to achieve your goals, you need God then……lol. This is how i try to stay motivated. Simply taking out time writing down this has gotten me really motivated and is such a reminder.

What ever it is you wish to accomplish and can’t seem to find the motivation to begin, i hope this gets your spirit high.

Stay motivated.

True! For those of us who enjoy writing, it has a way of getting you up! And lifting your spirit, but motivation is beyond our talents and hobbies, it’s about what we think and permit to stay awake within, when you are positive within, you find out you are well motivated to do things…
So to stay motivated, get a grip of your thoughts, make sure you don’t let negatives dominate your mind.

I love that line……motivation is beyond our talents and hobbies, it’s about what we think and permit to stay awake within. I should have that always in my mind. Thanks for your comment.
